Joe Nichols, Associate Principal
My name is Joe Nichols, and I am honored to serve as the 8th Grade Principal and Special Education Administrator at Lewis and Clark Middle School. This year marks my 25th year in education and my 16th year at Lewis and Clark, where I have been privileged to serve in various leadership roles dedicated to supporting students, staff, and families.
Lewis and Clark is more than a school, it is where students begin shaping the legacy they will leave behind. As Principal of the Legacy Wing, I have the unique opportunity to work alongside our oldest middle school students as they prepare for high school and beyond. Our mission is to ensure that every student leaves Lewis and Clark not only academically prepared, but also equipped with the character, leadership, and determination to make a positive impact on others. In addition to my work with 8th grade students, I oversee Special Education services, helping ensure that every student has the support and opportunities needed to reach their full potential.
I began my career in Boonville, Missouri, as an Art teacher and coach at Laura Speed Elliott Middle School before teaching Art at Blair Oaks Elementary School. I later joined the Jefferson City School District as the District Instructional Technology Specialist, supporting teachers in the effective integration of technology to enhance student learning.
A lifelong Jefferson City resident, I am a graduate of Jefferson City High School. I earned a Bachelor of Science in Art Education from Lincoln University, a Master of Education in Instructional Technology from the University of Missouri, and an Educational Specialist degree in School Administration from William Woods University.
Outside of school, I enjoy spending time with my wife, Teresa, and our four children. Faith and family are at the center of my life and continue to guide both my personal and professional endeavors.
I am grateful for the opportunity to serve the students, families, and staff of Lewis and Clark Middle School. Every day, I look forward to helping our students build their legacy, embrace new challenges, and continue their journey as Trailblazers and Jays.
